d6a2afd33b Barbara Gordon recounts the story of how she became the Batgirl. In the first part, Barbara recalls how she and her friend, Pamela Isley, led protests against corporations for environmental damage they caused much to her father's displeasure. Unbeknownst to her or Batman, Pamela is the brains behind a string of attacks against these corporations with a powerful new super-villain, Temblor. But Pamela soon gets more than she bargains for when Temblor begins wondering why he has not been paid for his workpromised, placing her and Barbara in extreme danger. While The Batman faces off against Temblor, a villain possessing seismic powers, we meet Commissioner Gordon's teenage daughter, Barbara. Already worried his daughter lacks focus, Gordon fears Barbara's new friend Pam Isley is a bad influence. That's probably the best word I can come up with for this episode: appetizer. There's not a lot of action and it basically servesbuild-up for the next episode. We get introduced to Barbara and Ivy, both with significant changes compared to other animated series. They decided to make Ivy a teenager in this, which is certainly different from a woman I can only guess was in her mid-30s in the other shows. And Barbara is more of a troubled youth looking to find herself, which is also different from her squeaky-clean character in the other shows. The changes are OK, I've never been a guy that hates re-imaginings of characters, unless I find them annoying. Speaking of annoying, here's hoping they don't just use Ivya stereotypical environmental nut.
